Ki tud többet Nagy-Britanniáról?

A 6 fordulós iskolai vetélkedő témái a következők: történelem, irodalom, földrajz, gazdaság, zene, film, sport, London, ünnepek, szokások, hagyományok, brit-magyar kapcsolatok, utazás, vásárlás, étkezés, humor, érdekességek, hobbi, stb.
A vetélkedőn 3-4 fős csapatok indulhatnak 2 kategóriában:
I. kategória: 11. és 12. évfolyamos angol kéttannyelvű osztályok
II. kategória: Minden osztály (kivéve az I. kategóriában indulókat)
A feladatok nagyobb része magyar nyelvű.
A megoldásokat a megadott határidőig küldjétek el a következő címre: gyongyiszondi@gmail.com
Az emailben mindig írjátok le a forduló, a feladatok számát, a csapattagok nevét és az osztályt.
A vetélkedő eredményhírdetésére és a jutalmak átadására a Hunfalvy Napon kerül sor.

A/ Angliának, Walesnek, Skóciának és Írországnak milyen növények a szimbólumai és kik a védőszentjeik?
     A növények nevét angolul is írjátok le!

B/ Melyik a két legmagasabb hegycsúcs Nagy-Britanniában, hol találhatók? Adjátok meg a magasságukat   méterben is!
C/ Milyen városokban találhatók a következő nevezetességek?
     1. Shakespeare szülőháza
     2. A Beatles-múzeum
     3. Nelson admirális emlékműve
     4. Prince's Street 

II. feladat  
A következő állítások igazak vagy hamisak?
1. A wimbledoni teniszbajnokság egyik hagyománya, hogy a nézők tejszínes epret esznek.
2. A Yorkshire pudding az angolok egyik kedvelt édessége.
3. December 6. Nagy-Britanniában ugyanúgy a Mikulás ünnepe, mint nálunk.
4. A Buckingham Palota előtti őrségváltásra minden nap délelőtt 10 órakor kerül sor.
5. II. Erzsébet királynő nyitja meg minden ősszel a parlamenti ülésszakot a Lordok Házában. Ilyenkor viseli a koronát és egyéb királyi ékszereket is.
6. Balszerencsét hoz, ha valaki az esernyőjét bent a házban nyitja ki.
7. Cambridge és London egyetemének evezőscsapata minden tavasszal versenyre kel egymással a Temze   folyón.
8. A "kardigán" nevű ruhadarab Lord Cardigan-ról kapta a nevét, aki a könnyűlovasságot vezette a  csatában  Balaclava-nál 1854-ben, a Krím-félszigeten.
9. Szentivánéj július 24-én van, amikor sokan ellátogatnak Stonehenge-re, hogy megcsodálják a napfelkeltét.
10. Guy Fawkes és társai megpróbálták felrobbantani a Parlamentet 1605. november 5-én, de ez nem  sikerült nekik. Ez a nap ma a gyerekek egyik kedvelt ünnepe.
11. Szerencsét hoz, ha a hónap első napján azt mondjuk, hogy: "Fehér nyulak."
12. A legnagyobb karácsonyfa Londonban a Hyde Parkban áll.
13. A Skót Gárda katonái semmit sem viselnek a szoknyájuk alatt.
14. Az angol kocsmákban csak 16 éven felüliek kaphatnak szeszesitalt.

2. A Lánchíd megépítésében fontos szerepet töltött be két Clark nevű ember. Mi volt a keresztnevük, és   miben segítették a Lánchíd megépítését?
3. Budapesten a Keleti pályaudvar homlokzatán melyik két híres angol feltaláló szobra látható?
    Milyen találmányok fűződnek a nevükhöz?

Ask students to choose a country they would like to visit. They could make notes under these headings:

• When is the best time to go?
• Are there any interesting events and festivals?
• How much does eating out cost?
• What three places would you most like to visit in this country?
• What is the best way of getting round the country?

Mini-project 2:    http://www.london-hotels.co.uk/ 
Tell students that they are going to stay in London. They need to find a hotel from this website. Ask them to decide when they want to travel, and then find a hotel they like for: 

• less than Ł100 a night
• more than Ł00 a night

Students could feed back in class and compare their hotels: 

• Where are they?
• How much do they cost?
• What facilities do they have?

First ask students to choose a cinema (it doesn't matter where they choose). Then they look at the list of films and choose the one they would most (or least) like to see. You could also ask them to find out this information:

• How long is the film? (running time)
• Who is the director?
• Who is in it? (the cast)
• Is it a good film? (each film has a short review)
• What time is the film on?
